UnPlanned. She thought that she was protecting and helping women who were facing the crisis of unplanned, unwanted pregnancies. And she really believed in what she was doing. She thought her choice to be a director of a Planned Parenthood Clinic in Texas that offered abortion services to its clients was the right one. What happened in that same clinic that would changed the course of her life wasn’t planned.

When she was called from her office to assist during an abortion procedure, Abby Johnson finally came face to face with the reality of what she had been promoting.  She saw the lies she had believed—and told countless other women about abortion and their unborn children. And that is when she chose to walk away from the career she had poured herself into for eight years and become a part of a Pro Life Organization.

Walking away from her career at Planned Parenthood wasn’t without challenges, and eventually her story became a headline on the National news and brought Abby unexpectedly to the front as an advocate and public figure in the right for life movement of today.

unPlanned is a documentary that tells Abby’s story—of where she came from, and how God worked in her life for eight years to bring her to where she is today. I cried as I watched her story. As a strong believer in pro-life, and as a girl who also has a tender place in my heart for women in crisis, I could relate to Abby’s desire to help women and her journey is touching and sincere.

Told from her perspective and the perspective of her family as well as the people who stood on the other side of the fence and prayed for her, unPlanned is an heart griping documentary companion to Abby’s book of the same title.

The book has been on my wishlist for a while, so I was interested when I was contacted and asked to review the DVD documentary by Focus on The Family and Tyndale Publishing, and the 60 minute film is well worth watching! The trailer can be found on youtube.

I am also happy to have been given an extra copy of unPlanned to share with one of my readers.

Catching up on your blog and saw this post. I just finished the UnPlanned book yesterday! It was incredible. Wow. It’s not often I read a non-fiction book that quickly. So soul-stirring for me, even though I already consider myself pro-life.

This sounds like a good resource. Sandi Patty lives near us; I’ve always loved her voice and enjoyed this song.

My passion is encouragement. Encouragement for all ages. I believe it is near to the heart of God. People are hurting everywhere and I ache to bring joy into their lives.

Wow. What a story! A cause that’s close to my heart is that of young girls who are trafficked into the slavery of the s*x industry.

Hmmm…both the book and DVD sound like a challenging, eye-opening peek into the pro-life movement. Adoption is a cause close to my heart. Children are such a blessing–both those given to parents biologically as well as those waiting for families around the world.

A cause that is very important to me and one that I support wholeheartedly is our local Carenet Pregnancy Center. They are priceless in what they do and in the serviced they provide!

I’m a nurse, and I can think of tons of health causes that are important to me. But, the the cause most important to me is helping teen girls realize they have value and are beautiful just how God made them!

The fight against abortion is very close to my heart…I am a doula and studying pregnancy, birth, & babies has made my grief even greater over how many babies are killed daily. Thank you for doing this giveaway!

I would love to see this…

Passionate? Hmm…I’m passionate for purity and well, passion. I so want to share who my Jesus is with the world…not only those who know Him….but this generation of Christians…I want to share the passion that’s burning in my soul….like Paul…to help people know and understand, and be able to say “to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

    Thanks for doing this!

I read the book, and I’d love to see the DVD, too! It’s an important cause to me…
Other ones that are important to me are family discipleship and homeschooling. And missions around the world and caring for our brethren! (I’m about to post something about such causes on my blog.)

I would love to see this documentary! As a Momma of two, my heart is broken for the countless women who believe the deceptive lies of abortion. It breaks even more for those who willingly murder their child, though there is grace and redemption. I wish more would realize that the 9 months they lend their womb to Life combined with adoption, is worth more than the guilt that follows any other decision…
