A tragic head on collision with a drunk driver. Months in the hospital recovering from critical injuries. Days of hoping, praying, and waiting for her 15 year old daughter, Jen, to wake from a five week coma. Wondering what the future would hold, and yet still believing that God would heal their child.
Miracle for Jen is the journey of a mother who prayed for God to heal their daughter, to restore her to who she was before the accident, and who struggled with trusting that God’s way is perfect, even if it doesn’t look like we wanted it to look.
Jen’s life is a miracle, and this is the story of how God used tragedy to answer prayers and to give one girl the chance to be the difference she had longed her whole life to be. Even though to the world, she had lost everything she lived for, to Jen, God made Himself real and she never doubted Him once.
I cannot imagine the anguish that the Barricks went through during those months in the hospital and the emotions they faced. And yet, I can. My husband and his family can relate even more closely because of my oldest brother in law’s terrible accident.
No matter what the heartache or the loss or the pain, trusting is the same. I could not help but think of the phrase out of a favorite song, “what if his blessings come through raindrops”?
This story inspires to “hope out loud”. It speaks of courage and of strength that only God can provide. This story attempts to show that no matter what happens in this life, God is still in control. We may not understand it now, but one day we will see that what seemed a hopeless tangle of circumstances and pains was the part of a masterpiece we just couldn’t quite make out.

What speaks hope to me is the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is my Hope! Praise God that no matter what comes my way, I can hope in Him!
Watching children play, taking a walk in the woods, or reading a verse in a beautiful setting.
Seeing the world through a child’s eyes. I love being with children knowing God loves them and will care for them, so He will care for me too.
This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD’s mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. (Lam. 3:21-22) All of my hope revolves around our merciful Father and the grace and compassion He has given us in His Son.
I grew up with a young man in our homeschool group who fell several stories from a stadium he and his father were bricking. I believe he was in his senior year, or a year past? I can’t remember exactly. He was always athletic, and a very strong and able bodied young man. The fall left him paralyzed for a long time, and though now he is able to walk and even drive, his life has not been the same. It was heartbreaking to see, and sadly, still is. As far as I know he has turned from the Lord.
That being said, it is so encouraging to see people cling to Christ in their time of desperation.
Reading the Bible, and learning that Jesus has passed this way before me, gives me hope. Also reading about other peoples experiences gives me hope as well.
I have hope when I see the Lord working in my life. Sometimes, when He works on one thing, it gives me hope that He will work on something else that is concerning me in my life… if that makes sense! I lose hope in Him so fast, it’s kind of sad. :)
And, we have a winner! It’s you!! :D Want to email me your address so I can send you your certificate? :)

Music gives me hope. :D Sounds like a book worth having!
I posted this on FB. (http://www.facebook.com/Darbadee)
Psalm 34 always gives me hope. It’s been my ‘life-support’ Psalm through really hard times. And spending time with God.
God’s promises speak hope to me…. holding onto the belief that oftentimes “blessings come through raindrops and healing comes through tears
Sounds like a wonderful book.

What speaks hope to me–yes, God’s Word! And yes, God’s creation. Especially the birds, as I remember that God knows when a sparrow falls, and we are of more worth than a sparrow.
I just saw this book in a Joni & Friends newletter and it looked really good so I added it to my amazon wishlist. Therefore, I am excited about this giveaway. Plus, were I to win, I could cross “win a prize or drawing or something” off my bucket list, teehee.
So what speaks hope to me? Nature. When I look at a gorgeously tall tree that has been standing there for many years, through many storms and winters, I feel hope. When I look at delicate purple wildflowers dancing in the wind, I feel hope, because I remember Jesus’ words about clothing the grass of the field, and how much more will He clothe me (and provide for all my other needs as well), O me of little faith? When I look at the mountains, I can remember where my help comes from. When I look at rainbows, I feel His love and remember specific moments where my heart ached, and just at those times He gave me a rainbow in the sky. And when I see a grassy pasture in spring, I take solace in the fact that spring always comes, every year. God is constant. He never changes, He will remain faithful forever, and I can trust Him.
Reading the Bible and prayer definitely fills me with hope!
What speaks hope to me… God’s Word! His promises are ever so faithful and true.
