Is anyone up for another installment of my annual Reading Challenge? I hope so, because I would love a few accountability partners!
It is past time for me to start reading more again. I’m excited for a fresh start after a couple rough years in the reading department. And because last year, I completely revamped the Reading Challenge to give it a little more modern approach that makes it easier and hopefully much more inspiring.
I knew that the Reading Challenge was way past due for a revamp and wanted to do something fresh for the new year. I was inspired by my top favorite Photo-a-Day Challenge creator, Fat Mum Slim, and thought–why not take that idea and make a spin off of it to base the new Reading Challenges off of? So that’s what I did.
I know that I need things to be as simple and straight forward as possible if I’m going to actually get them done. So I picked 12 themes to inspire book choices for each month of the year. I loved the result!
It turns out, I wasn’t the only one with this bright idea. A friend of mine forwarded me a post by Modern Mrs. Darcy–and she did the exact same thing on her blog! Her prompts were so similar to mine, that I had to laugh. I loved tagging along with her twitterature posts in the past and was flattered that we had a GMTA moment, even though it made my idea look like a copy instead of an original. ;)
Of course, I didn’t get to roll out my idea in 2015 anyway. That first week of the new year, I got bad news. My auntie wasn’t going to get better. She slipped away a few days later, and suddenly launching a new Reading Challenge didn’t seem very important anymore.
But now it’s 2016. I’ve debated for the last three months whether or not I should share my own Reading Challenge Prompts or just jump on board with her brand new 2016 challenge and call it a day.
In the end, I decided I’d give you my version so you could pick which one works best for you. After all, it’s been sitting here for a year waiting to be shared!
So without further ado, I present you with the brand new face of Reading Challenge 2016. Read in any order you wish. Read more than 12 if you want! But hopefully these categories will give you ideas and enhance your reading experience in the new year.
And? Just for old time’s sake, if you take the challenge and complete it, I’ll enter you to win a Kindle eBook of my choice in December. You can join the facebook group (for reminders, inspiration and all things bookish) or comment each month to be entered.

I can’t wait to hear about what books you pick each month and to (hopefully) return to my beloved habit of regular book reading myself.
