It’s official. We’ve reached the half way point of 2012 and of this year’s reading challenge.
Summer is just about in full swing. There’s been friends graduating, new babies arriving, heat waves and storms and new ideas born since May. The blog has had its own bit of freshening up. (And that’s not over, by the way. I’m trying to wait for inspiration to catch up with me…or for me to catch up with it. Whichever happens first.)
All of the above have kept me more or less hopping to keep on top of everything, and even then I didn’t manage. But it is summer, and it is glorious…even if it has been a little bit too hot. (okay, maybe a lot. It isn’t suppose to be 110* in June where I live!)
This is the mid-year time of crisis when you either wonder why on earth you thought you could possibly read 25 books in the year, or you wonder why you didn’t think you could read more than 12. Whatever your dilemma, feel free to adjust your goal, and take time to freshen up your inspiration to make reading a part of every month of your year. Just be sure to give yourself some wiggle room and remember that while they may be few, there are some things in life that truly are more important than reading.
As for June, Books and Me—well, it’s been a month for snippets and not for swallows. I’ve soaked in some good words, but I haven’t finished anything and I haven’t started anything. Here’s to hoping that this month will see at least one more book read and reviewed before it is over.
But, for all the lack of reading I’ve been doing, I have managed to keep on track with my personal goals so far. I truly am amazed.
So tell me about your June, about the good books you’ve read, and about what makes you excited for the second part of the year. Oh, and if you update your goals? I’d love to hear about it, too!
(Please remember to include the month in your title when you link up!)
As always If you aren’t currently a part of Reading Challenge 2012, take a peek at the official guidelines and see if you want to jump on in and join us. We’re always happy to have new friends!
I’m afraid that I have not kept up with recording what I’ve read… but I have read at least 3 new children’s fiction books of late. One was about a family moving from England to Rhodesia after the war – which I found particularly interesting. And I have just re-read “Christy” by Catherine Marshall.
Oh, those do sound interesting! I haven’t been good at really keeping a record either, until I started using goodreads faithfully. Not that keeping a record matters *that* much, though! :)
I just uploaded my July update. I love Goodreads!!! It makes it so easy to keep up with my reading. I highly recommend it. http://www.goodreads.com/ I hope you did well with your reading in July. I will stop by again in a week or so to see your update.
