Checking In

I have returned. I think?

I can’t believe how long it has been since I really wrote anything here. It is these unexpected silences that make me realize how much I do love to write. I am hoping that this post is the end of such extensive silence and the beginning of writing again. It feels like it is time.

I have so much I want to write about, and I’m looking forward to getting back in touch, to sharing and being alive in blogosphere once more.

Here’s some of what I hope will find its way into the pages of this blog sooner than later:

- Our epic 1/10th of a mile move.

- YLCF’s month of posts on passion and purpose. (There will be giveaways, so you don’t want to miss out!)

- Reading Challenge Checkpoints for September and October. (Um, yes. I am that behind.)

- Two book reports.

- Part two (and more) of our love story

- An Upcoming Month of Gratitude and Thanksgiving!

- Winter Menus and packing lunches

And dozens of quotes that I have been saving that are too good to not share.

I also cannot believe that it is October, and that it is fall. It definitely feels the part here. While I’m working on these posts, talk to me and tell me what your fall is like in your corner of the world and what you love most about when days begin to turn cool again.

  1. I can’t believe it is October already and winter seems to be upon us far too soon. (And that part i am not terribly happy about) =/
It tried to freeze last night and we also got a bit of hail. It was snowing a few miles up the hwy… eek!

But we are all doing well; reaping the harvest we have sowed! and enjoying the fall bounty. (9 lugs of apples and I wish I could share with you!)

    *hugs*

  2. It’s good that you love to write because we love your writing! What a nice surprise to see you are “back again”. Moving is always exhausting. (By the way: I liked the foto of your cute little house!!)
Since you asked: fall is really coming here in Southern Germany. We had a long period of golden warm days with a wonderful intense blue sky, and I am glad I used the time well to enjoy many long walks. Today, I walked into town as usual to get some groceries – it takes about one hour, but the morning was suddenly so chilly that I was glad for a mug of hot tea after I came back home. It’s supposed to become even colder. We didn’t turn the heating on yet and try to catch as much sun as possible during the days, but without candles and tea at night it would feel too chilly.
This year, we were blessed with an extremely rich apple harvest. We don’t have any, but we got a lot of them from friends who were even glad to get rid of them! So there was lots of apple pie around here, and I also made lots of apple sauce. I just love the smell of cinnamon in the house! Tonight, it will be a plum cake with streusel – also a delicious fall recipe I love.
One of my favourite events of the year took place two weeks ago in our little town: the famous apple fair. Farmers show and sell dozens of different apples and pears, and I just love to see and taste the abundance. I bought also lots of pears and stocked up on homemade marmalades of fruit I don’t have myself. The farmers’ wives decorate them so nicely with bows, I just couldn’t resist!
Dear Chantel, excuse this lengthy comment, but I love fall, and I love visiting here! Wishing you and Scott as many warm and cozy fall nights as we enjoy here! Martina

  3. Good to hear from you, and can’t wait to read updates, esp. about your move!
Don’t feel bad, I am still behind on updating my reading list, which shouldn’t really take too long to update seeing as how I haven’t done a whole lot of reading….even though this weather sure is inviting to do so! It seems like Fall happened all at once here and cold temps suddenly arrived, we had a spell of ice/hail the other day. Picking all our garden veges with the threat of freeze and making plans to do lots of apple juice soon! At least with this weather, I don’t feel so guilty about staying inside and studying so much.. :)
